Dear Families
Congratulations to everyone for completing Term 2 and making it to the half-way mark of the year. Though some of us have skipped to this last week we certainly have had families, students and staff hit by the winter Blues are are well and truly ready for the school holidays to give us a break from routine.
I often use the line "don't count the days, make the days count" both in my personal and professional life, so it has been such a positive opportunity this week to reflect back all we have achieved and shared this year. The obvious highlight is the growth in our Foundation students who have taken to primary school like veterans, while the quiet achievements of individual students overcoming academic and social challenges indicates how resilient our students can be. Community highlights would be the First Communion and Confirmation celebrations as well the many different sporting events we participated in. A huge congratulations to everyone on their achievements, small and large, and a very sincere thank you to the staff and parents that enabled these events to happen.
This term has been extremely busy on the teaching front with many new initiatives and professional learning driving the work of leadership and staff. I am frequently overwhelmed with the professionalism and generosity of staff as they strive to meet the diverse needs across the school. Many a time this term I have felt like the Fat Controller from Thomas the Tank Engine as I meet with staff enthusiastically going about adding and improving what we offer our students academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Again, thanks to the staff for embracing their roles with such genuine care and interest.
This newsletter a few days ago in production was looking fairly streamlined but has grown quickly as the week has progressed. Please take a note of the details and add any important dates to your calendars and phones. We have a busy Events Schedule ahead of us with the concert of the last day of term looking like it is going to take on Taylor Swift for ticket sales.
I thank everyone for their support this term. The media at times doesn't portray the role of principal (or teaching) as being very attractive, but I wake every day grateful that I have the opportunity to lead this school.
Wishing everyone a relaxing an recharging break over the holidays, and fingers crossed the Tigers do the right thing and start my vacation with a win over the Blues.
Stay safe, God Bless!
Dave
